Mashita of Misr (ra) was a hairdresser for the royal family of ancient Egypt. She believed in one God despite the Pharoah’s insistence that she worship him and the Egyptian gods. Even when her five children were being thrown into a burning cauldron as punishment she held onto her righteous belief in monotheism. She hesitated when her last child, an infant, was about to be murdered but miraculously, her baby spoke to her and told her to stay steady in faith. She and all of her children were martyred by the Pharoah of Egypt.

When the Prophet Muhammad pbuh went on his ascension to the seven heavens with the archangel Jibreel, he questioned the angel about a beautiful scent in the air. Jibreel responded that it was the fragrance of Mashita of Misr and told her parable. This candle has notes of Egyptian amber, and pure jasmine, with hints of orange blossom and tonka finished with a powdery, feminine musk. Her authentic aroma that fills our heavens would be an honor to be acquainted with.

Never think of those martyred in the cause of Allah as dead. In fact, they are alive with their Lord, well provided for.
